A Global Group

Over the last few weeks, I’ve managed to gain more interest in yoga classes by individuals in Bangalore. It’s all been word-of-mouth, and a few simple ads on local websites.

This weekend, I was joined  by four individuals who represent a global world. A young woman from Bangalore, a British man of Nigerian descent, and a couple who had most recently been living in Switzerland. The group also was of diverse religions.

Yet we shared 90 minutes of yogic practices, including pranayama, asana, and dhyana, without a thought in the world as to our diversity. Actually, if anything, our diverse backgrounds stimulated conversation and admiration, as we shared stories of our travels, our experiences, and our lives.

Yoga is not just for those who are skinny and slim. It’s also not just for the 70-year old retiree, or the Brahmin boys, or the hippie crowd. Yoga is for everyone, regardless of background.

Diversity bound the young 20- and 30- somethings. Yoga was just a backdrop to bring these individuals together. In the end, we all drank from the same pot of chamomile tea, as we prepared to relax into slumber before the rush of Monday morning.

If you’re in Bangalore, join us for next Sunday’s session and see for yourself, the peace you make by building relationships with yourself and those diverse individuals around you, like 3rd track diplomacy.

Namaste. This section will begin to explore sanskrit terminology associated with yoga. First word: Namaste. This is a salutation, "I salute the light within you that is within me also."

News on Domestic Violence

Since I've been blogging about yoga and domestic violence, I thought I would share Dr. Phil's stories as well. The television icon is asking people to break the silence! http://blog.drphil.com/2010/09/09/our-ninth-season/
