How is Yoga related to the world (and thus peace?)

I’m not sure how to answer this myself. It’s something I want to continue growing and researching and helping others understand too.

Thus, I’m reaching out to you, knowing that together we are better!

I’m looking for academic and non-academic papers and books, blogs, and anectodal stories from well-established mass-media sources (and another other relevant information) related to yoga & the following topics:

children’s issues

religious diversity

environmental issues

gender issues (women’s issues)

natural resources

self care

health issues

war, prisoners

how different forms of yoga are used assist people to build peace

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

4. Tuesday evenings, 6:15-7:30 pm: General Gentle Flow class

5. Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings, 6:45-8:00 am: General Gentle Flow class

Supplies: Wear comfortable clothes. Do not eat or drink after 2 pm. Bring a yoga mat, and a shawl or light blanket. Extra pillows and blankets are always welcome.

Cost: All group classes and workshops are Rs 200/ session. Monthly commitments for group classes required.

Register by sending an email or SMS response to me by the Friday prior to the workshop, with your name and "I'm attending on Sunday". This becomes your commitment to you, to me, and to yoga.

Cancel 24-hours in advance.

1. Private Yoga/ Yoga Therapy: Students will receive a consultation assessment followed by 8-10 classes in a 4-week span, and potentially continuing for several months, geared towards their specific physical, mental, and emotional needs.

2. Yoga @ Liza's Home: Weekly classes for residents at a home for 20 mentally-challenged women in Bangalore.

3. Yoga @ Little Infant Jesus Home: Weekly classes for residents at a home for about 130 HIV+ women and children.

4. Yoga @ Samiksha Foundation: Weekly classes for children who are undergoing treatment for various forms of cancer.

5. Yoga @ Octave Speech and Hearing Centre: Classes for children with special needs.

I received my formal training in yoga at Southwest Institute for Healing Arts in Tempe, Arizona. I learned under Christy Burnette and Rhoda Miriam, and I have also studied with Aradhana Kaur and Mary Bruce.

After receiving my certification, I taught in neighborhood parks and gardens in Tempe and Cupertino, CA. I later created Yoga for Peace for universities in Austria and Costa Rica.

I have completed a master's thesis on how yoga affects people who have experienced domestic violence. My research involved teaching at a local domestic violence shelter in Santa Clara County, California.

I also teach private lessons and group lessons.
